Many older adults have trouble sleeping, however, those living with dementia can face other challenges, too.
As the day goes on, a person with dementia may become increasingly tired, which can lead to their dementia symptoms worsening. As a result, they might feel confused, agitated, aggressive or anxious.
Tips to reduce late-day confusion:
Establish a sleep routine: regular meal times, reading before bed and waking up at the same time each morning.
Music before bed can create a peaceful, soothing mood.
Avoid stimulants such as coffee and alcohol before bed. Also, avoid large meals in the evening as this can disrupt sleep patterns.
Close the blinds and turn the lights on before dusk to ease the transition into night–time.
Impressive work.
